VALENTINE'S & ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS

Val's day was exactly a week ago and though I wanted to publish a blog post before that day, I'm glad that I stalled. Just as a typical 14th February, it was highly marked with people in romantic relationships showing love to each other. There is nothing wrong with that though many people think that one should show love everyday. True, we should but just as there are special days in a year in which we celebrate different occasions, Val's is just one of those so we should just go with the flow.
When you plan to give your loved one a treat, Val's day can be one of those days. It even makes the day more special and the effort deeply cherished as well since it'll be perceived that much thought and effort was put into the gift. Get the drift?

But is Val's day to be celebrated by people in romantic relationships only? Definitely not.
Love exists between other people from family to mere friends so if you're not in a romantic relationship, don't be bitter about that day. You have the opportunity to celebrate with other loved ones in your circle and even beyond like the less privileged.

Look, I'm not a die-hard fan of this day but that doesn't mean I get irritated by someone showing love or affection to his/her significant other, I mean why waste my energy on that when I can enjoy the day by giving out chocolates and flowers to people in my life who deserve to be celebrated. Listen, it's not that deep. Somethings shouldn't be taken so personal because we already have enough to worry about.
Showing bitterness on a day of love doesn't make you better in any way. I know people are just bitter but please take a chill pill okay??? Life's too short to take trivial matters to heart.
Now, for those who freely and genuinely celebrate the day with love, please, if you can't afford to give your loved ones anything then you can simply use words (a card, a note, a text, call) or give them your time. If you can afford something small, then do so (a bar of chocolate with a red ribbon is cute enough). Don't look at someone buying a car and feel intimidated then as a result decide not to do anything at all. Before that though, consider the person you're involved with, if you're with someone who loves material items then prepare yourself, after all you chose to be with him/her. Don't be angry at someone who was able to make his/her partner content with a bouquet of roses and you can't achieve that with a gift voucher. We all ain't the same.

WE DON'T ALWAYS CHOOSE WHO WE FALL IN LOVE WITH BUT WE HAVE CONTROL OVER WHO WE STAY IN LOVE WITH & KEEP IN OUR LIVES.

I know it's not easy to live on your terms and within your means because of social media and its related societal pressure but an attempt to do this does go a long way when it comes to change.
