JANUARY OVER?? NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS???
January 2019 has been so brief, hasn't it? I keep wondering if this is how all the other months will be. If so, then we need to keep up with the pace, don't we?
New Year Resolutions are just one of the many many things I'm indifferent about but in the last week of December and first two weeks of January, several people talk about it which makes me late to the game but oh well, better late than never.
I love planning for the short, middle and long-term but at the same time I dislike limitations and inhibitions. I have observed that most individuals don't allow themselves some level of opportunity to switch things up during the year when it comes to New Year Resolutions as well as setting questionable goals.
Success doesn't come by exploring one defined route, it comes with a lot of tries, trials and failures. When you inculcate the saying that there is time for everything, it becomes pretty clear as to why we all need to take a break more often than not. In the same breathe, we shouldn't excessively relax which will result in a year's resolutions being fulfilled in three years.
Long and short? New Year Resolutions should be realistic and tailored to suit you.
1. REALISTIC
If you bought a house on mortgage in 2019, 2019s Resolutions should focus on saving up to pay it off and not buying a car or starting a capital intensive business.

2. INDEPENDENT
If you work a job that doesn't pay enough for you to save and buy a car in a short period then don't add that to your New Year Resolutions because someone has done so even if the person works the same job as you. There could be many ways unknown to you as to how the person achieved that milestone. The person may be getting support from family, friends or/and a significant other OR the person got the money from illegal or immoral means OR the person has been saving since childhood. That is as long as you know you save as much as you can.
3. LIMITATIONS
If you're saving up to buy a car just because you think it is time to own one and more than halfway through the year, the money is still not enough but there is a great opportunity with which the funds you currently have is sufficient enough to support then pursue it if you really want to, that is, if your mind tells you "If it wasn't for this car, I'd totally do this". It could be a better job which requires you to move or a business ownership opportunity in a thriving industry or a partnership with a friend/family member or undertaking a course/further studies which will definitely secure a better job afterwards.
Another scenario is when people base their actions and decisions completely on New Year Resolutions and do not do any "impromptu" or short term plans to be executed within the same year when it deems fit.
Personally I don't do New Year Resolutions, I just plan whenever and execute them when it's possible, it could be a new year or days after the goal is set. All that matters is the success of the execution and results thereafter to be honest.
I am not saying New Year Resolutions are unimportant and people should not indulge in it, all I am saying is New Year Resolutions should be thoroughly thought through in respect of the three issues mentioned earlier.
Lastly, I believe the first three months of a new year is still a good time to set New Year Resolutions and not just December or January. Why?? To settle into the new year, finish off some things from the previous year or even going with the flow (this could even direct you as to what to do/plan for rest of the year).
For me, this year has already been challenging and enlightening yet very promising. I'll definitely let you all in on the things I'm working on when the time is right.

I think it's also important to mention that there's no need to wait till a fresh year to make changes. I understand it feels like a fresh stratt but if its important enough any changes or improvements could start there and then.
