ADULTING 101 - 3

In the previous post which focused on financial stability, I mentioned that not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur and not everyone is meant to be an employee emphasizing that it is essential for mental health.
A large number of people are currently employees and it will always be so unless there comes a time when all businesses are owned, controlled, managed and operated by one person only.
PS: That is as close to impossible as anything can get.
Despite that, there has been a surge in entrepreneurship and irrespective of that, criticizing people who are happily working for and under people should not be a thing.
Just like the way an actor/actress is meant to be in front of a camera and in the spotlight, others (such as the producer, director and videographer) are meant to be in the background but at the end what matters is that they enjoy what they do which transcends into a finished product that is beyond "perfect".
Enjoying what you do brings about happiness, contentment, excitement, and a feeling of fulfilment which enhances mental health irrespective of the existence of stress.
However, situations do get overwhelming and it is vital to rest and take a break, a practice 99% of people make. They focus on making others happy, excellinh quickly and doing everything ever so perfect that they break down even before realizing it. Sadly, when the depression is severe that is when the whole world turns against them.
An underrated reason why many employees have a side business is to be able to relax productively or do something they love asidebmaking extra cash that is.
If yours can't be that way because you are doing one thing which can be overwhelming then take time off because it literally kills no one. Even doctors take time off (not all of them at once since that will lowkey be like World War III).
Do these five (5) things:
1. Find a niche you love then invest some amount of time, money and expertise in it.
2. Take a break regularly and not only when you feel you need it.
3. Always plan to prevent become overwhelmed especially since impromptu activities are constant and inevitable.
4. Invest in solid partners, assistants and employees who will help in relieving you of some of the work load.
5. Surround yourself with people who make you happy and relax you - a destressing scheme.
Bonus: Strategically find solutions to negative issues and thoughts, that is, try as much as possible to declutter your brain and thoughts regularly still treating urgent matters with urgency.
Try opposites. If you work in a busy environment try as often as possible to be in a quiet place sometimes. Stay home if your work requires you to be out always. If you work in a quiet place (silence can be deafening) then try to be in a busy environment. It could be attending events or even eating lunch at a restaurant instead of home - For relaxation and destressing.
Food for thought: When last did you feel stress-free?
In subsequent posts, I’ll still tackle some topical issues in the previous posts then when the issues are exhausted, we can move on.
