KNOW YOUR HEELS (Current trends)
1. Pumps
Anytime someone mentions heels, it is highly likely that they are referring to these. It is common to find and extremely versatile. They are not very high which means they aren’t uncomfortable to wear on the normal level. The most versatile high heels and also perfect for a corporate look or when you want even amount of attention between the clothes and the heels.
2. Stilettos
If you need a significant increase in height or you are really good with walking in heels, then this is your best friend as it is known to be the type of heels that come in the highest inches. They can be pumps but obviously higher or have platforms so that they are a tad bit comfortable for the normal lady.
3. Ankle strap heels
One of my favourites. It gives the illusion of wearing anklets without actually wearing one. Also, the straps can be very stylish (thin, normal, chunky, beaded, gold/silver metallic, etc.) which makes it look even cuter when worn. It is more firm and comfortable because of the straps. It also comes in varying heights so finding an appropriate one for you is never difficult.
4. Peep toe heels
With this, finding the right size is necessary because you do not want you toes spilling out front or pushed way back since that is the highlight of these heels. Also, make sure your toes are presentable before slipping in them peep toe heels. Frequently called 'open' toe heels.
5. Sandals
The focus is the upper part of the heels. It is sandals with heels basically. The heels can be any type (from pumps to stilettos to wedges and so on).
6. Sling back heels
These are also very comfortable because of the support that the sling back strap gives. Most of them are also peep toe types. In the situation where you want the support of straps but want a smarter and less fancy look, these are perfect for that.
7. Wedge heels
These are probably the most comfortable heels that provide a substantial height difference as they are more levelled. These can also have ankle straps, be peep toe or sandals, espadrille ad so on. This allows you to have other options than that of colour.
8. Boots
These are more suitable for the places characterized by cold seasons majority of the year as it provides warmth especially the long boots. Ankle boots are better suited for all other seasons especially when you want to go extra but the long boots are completely unnecessary. They are very versatile when it comes to choosing an outfit to match.
9. Chunky heels
Any heel with a wider base is referred to as chunky heels. Also very comfortable as the heel covers more ground surface than the regular ones. These can have ankle straps, sling back straps, be sandals or peep toe or platforms. Commonly known as ‘block’ heels.
10. Platforms
These can be very high or just normal. The area beneath the sole is thicker and therefore comfortable since the difference between the sole and the heel is not excessive especially when the heels are higher than average. Almost every other type of high heels can have platforms.
11. Mules
Personally not a fan of this type of heels but they have been in trend for a while now. It can look good in some cases but I do not see it to be the type that can be worn almost everywhere or with everything, Also, since I have never tried them, I cannot write on how comfortable they are. The most common kind is those without a back, looking more like slippers with heels.
12. Oxfords
These I find to look cute because of the lace up detail and the way it is mostly worn with socks or stockings. A lot of times, I see people wear it with skirt or dresses or leggings instead of jeans or trousers. I am guessing it is comfortable since the heels are not high. I am guessing the name is from the fact that it is worn mostly by the British and English women.
13. Cut out heels
These are different from sandals. They are more like full shoes that have cut out designs in different shapes and at varying areas of the upper section of the shoe. They tend to look more stylish but with less designs, they can be worn for a corporate look (especially when they are pumps).
14. Corset heels
Absolutely love the way these look except I have never owned or tried one. It ties up like sneakers or a corset. They are mostly peep toe and the heels are not very high. Obviously, it is not suitable for a corporate look but more of a casual or fancy one. Perfect for when you want to put attention on your feet or legs.
15. Espadrille heels
This is more about texture than the type of heel or shape of the shoe. It is fabric and fibre merged together. The heel is fibre (or rope) whiles the upper part is of fabric. They are more common as wedges and stilettos but also available in sandals heels, ankle strap heels and so on.
16. Cork heels
This also has to do with the texture or material. These heels have their bottom parts being (sometimes the entire shoe) made of the material used for a bottle stopper. Also very common as platforms and peep toes but available in other styles as well.
